2D and Document Security – Part 2
Question – How can a 2D code secure checks?
Answer – In my last column I discussed an increased awareness of the need for document security as detailed by a report from the Department of Homeland security.
While this is not a new issue for many of you, applications and government requirements sometimes require you to constantly tune your methods of securing your documents. This could also be a result of exposures that are always becoming evident as both ill-intentioned and your valued customers see a need for expecting your company to secure their confidential information.
As the U.S. moves ahead with the Check21 initiative, many companies are seeing additional requirements to add security to image copies of their checks since it is possible that original documents are destroyed.
In response to questions from our Clients, and what we see in the business environment today, COPI is developing a methodology for you to gain a level of security to your information by adding ‘On-Document verification and authentication’ that will follow your document from time of creation to archival storage as image files.
This could be of great interest to banks, insurance companies or any company that produces a vast number of checks.
As I mentioned in the last column, this could also be for any legal document that has the potential for becoming evidence in a legal proceeding.
Please call me to discuss this in more detail.
