Sefas Whitepaper Highlights Importance of TransPromo in Surviving Print Industry’s Shrinking Profit Margins

A new whitepaper published by leading document software specialists, Sefas Innovation, has highlighted the extent to which the financial climate is making economically viable print services more and more marginalised.

The Adding Value – Building Your Business whitepaper outlines a number of serious issues threatening the survival of the industry in its current format. These include the advent of global competition, the pressure applied by recent environmental and regulatory changes, and the widespread public adoption of mobile and web technology.

According to the paper, “rationalisation of the industry into a fewer number of larger service providers is also encouraging an environment where the print and mail process is becoming more commoditised. Providers seek to gain new business through loss leading printing costs, hoping to claw back margin by delivering added value services.”

The rise of pre-composed documents is also putting a squeeze on dwindling profit margins, bringing with it software challenges and paring down the opportunities to add value for customers. The whitepaper suggests that those willing to adapt fast to new trends and respond to the changes in technology are most likely to survive and thrive in the years ahead.

The  paper also makes a number of recommendations on likely areas for future growth and expansion for the industry and points in particular to TransPromo marketing as a strong example of a value added service, which could reap multiple benefits for both client and Print Service Providers (PSPs) alike and which is, to date, still underutilised.

The whitepaper states: “Print Service Providers can feel confident that offering a TransPromo service will deliver benefits to their customers and to their own bottom line.”

It recommends that “PSPs need to incorporate their TransPromo capabilities into their strategic thinking – it is the service most likely to ensure that they retain existing customers, attract new ones and allow them to entwine their service with the customers’ key business processes – from cash collection to customer satisfaction.

The report concludes: “Whilst adopting a TransPromo capability does not guarantee survival, not to do so will seriously diminish your chances of retaining your current client base and attracting new customers.”
