PALO ALTO, Calif, July 9, 2014 — HP announced today that Progressive Solutions has added the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press to its exclusive portfolio of HP Indigo presses to stay current with the latest technology as well as offer customers new and enhanced products with the larger 29-inch print format.
Progressive Solutions, a Santa Clara-based printer since 1990, operates three web-to-print business divisions including StationeryHQ, serving the stationery and gift space; FreckleBox, offering personalized gifts for kids; and PrintHQ, for the corporate marketplace. The HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press is expected to strengthen the company's position in the stationery and personalized gift markets, which account for two-thirds of its overall business. In addition, the press will help the company promote additional corporate and print broker opportunities.
"We began running HP Indigo presses in 2004, and we have purchased eight since then, and the HP Indigo 10000 is truly a game changer because of its size," said Mark Sarpa, chief executive officer, Progressive Solutions. “We’ll have the ability to create new products outside of the current capabilities that we have never done before. In addition, it will enable us to produce current projects quicker, while also being more cost efficient."
Innovating new products to drive future growth
One of Progressive Solutions' specialties is printing double-thick stock from a process it invented for digital for products such as deluxe wedding invitations. The addition of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press will open similar creative opportunities and also help differentiate Progressive Solutions in the photo book market. The company expects new business and cost savings from printing efficiencies to yield double-digit growth as high as 20 percent.
“After 10 years of experience working together, what I love about HP Indigo presses is the consistent quality and that the company shares other customer experiences as key learnings because, for them, it's all about the long-term win," said Sarpa.
With the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press, Progressive Solutions can also gain efficiencies when producing short run and variable data projects. The larger sheet size is beneficial for various projects such as 8 x 11-inch landscape books that can now run two across. This was not previously possible due to the 13 x 19-inch sheet size on their Indigo 7500. The HP Indigo 10000 allows the company to produce die-cut folders in short runs or large quantities of 300 or more. The same applies for its retail and wholesale wrapping paper business where previous requests for 50-100 rolls were turned down. With the new press, the company can now cost-effectively produce high value wrapping paper in a range of order sizes.
“The market is prime for print service providers to leverage advances in digital printing to produce innovative products and grow into untapped markets," said Yishai Amir, vice president and general manager, Americas Graphics Solutions Business, HP. "The HP Indigo 10000 expands Progressive Solutions’ digital capabilities so it can cultivate business by offering current and prospective customers more cost-effective, out-of-the-box products such as oversized photo books and customized wrapping paper in short runs."
