MELBOURNE, AU March 21st 2014 Kodak Australasia has chosen to end its exclusive arrangement with Heidelberg to distribute Kodak plates to the Sheetfed Offset market effective as of 1st July, 2014.
“As a company Kodak is focused on providing complete solutions,” said Venn. “Bringing distribution back in-house for our Sheetfed Offset customers allows us to maximise the opportunities to provide total solutions that span the production gamut, from printing and workflow solutions, to hybrid printing options and colour management. We already work very successfully with our Web customers in this capacity so it makes good business sense to do the same with the Sheetfed segment.”
He continued. “We’ve seen a lot of consolidation in the Sheetfed Offset market in the past two years in particular. As such margins are much tighter and working exclusively with a single channel partner is no longer a viable option for us. We believe by bringing the distribution of our plates for the Sheetfed Offset market in-house we will also be more competitive with those suppliers who currently sell direct”.
Venn is quick to point out that this change in distribution is relevant to the Sheetfed Offset sector only and Kodak has no plans to change its current non-exclusive arrangements with existing channel partners in other market segments.
“We are committed to working closely with our customers to create value and to help them grow their businesses, and having a direct relationship will allow us to meet these objectives, ” he concluded.
