Jersey Post Group is the postal service provider for the people and businesses of the Channel Islands – an archipelago of British Crown Dependencies in the English Channel, off the French coast of Normandy – offering a modern and continually developing product portfolio in terms of traditional postal services.

Jersey Post has recently completed the installation of a Simex Letter sorter within the Jersey Post Mail Centre at Rue de Pres which is the postal authority’s most significant investment in automation in recent years. The outstanding sorting technology of Simex Letter offers the postal service provider professional and reliable mail sorting at highest possible levels. At a throughput rate of up to 47,000 mailings per hour the patented guide channels ensure low mechanical reject count. Industry leading OCR-reading technology guarantees the highest reading rates throughout the whole sorting process. For Jersey Post, the new high-speed sorter seamlessly processes letters and large letters across all streams for mail destined for local delivery, the UK mainland and also wider international mail.

Thanks to its modular design, Simex Letter can be perfectly adapted to individual customer requirements. The system provides Jersey Post with a number of inline benefits such as stamp cancellation, application of marketing messages and the ability to sort to a postman’s walk sequence amongst others, with further enhancements in the pipeline aimed at improving operational efficiencies.

The Simex Letter comes with the flexible and intuitively operable software BÖWE Sort allowing customized solutions for individual requirements. The software is intuitive to operate, providing a high level of operator friendliness, matching the ergonomic design of the system and improving productivity. The use of state-of-the-art technology and continuous development ensure future expandability of BÖWE Sort that provides a high level of investment protection.

Andy Jehan, Director of Postal Operations, Jersey Post says: “BÖWE SYSTEC’s extremely flexible software solution along with Siemens technology has combined the best of both worlds.
